纪念

Susan B. Anthony

Campaigner for women's suffrage

Anthony gave some seventy-five speeches a year for forty-five years, travelling by train and stagecoach across a country that mostly did not want to hear her. In 1872 she voted in a presidential election, was arrested, tried and fined a hundred dollars. She never paid it.

She died fourteen years before the amendment that bears her name gave American women the vote. On election days her grave is still covered with the stickers people receive after voting.
