- Barranco de Víznar, near Alfacar, Granada — his grave has never been found, Spain
Lorca brought the ballads and the grief of Andalusia into modern poetry, and in "Blood Wedding" and "The House of Bernarda Alba" into modern theatre. He also ran a travelling company that took plays to villages that had never seen one.
In the first weeks of the civil war he was arrested in Granada and shot on the road between Víznar and Alfacar, with a schoolmaster and two bullfighters. Several excavations have failed to find the grave. An olive grove is now a park in his name, and Spain has still never held a trial for his killing.
