In memory of

Abraham Lincoln

16th President of the United States

Born in a one-room log cabin in Kentucky and largely self-taught, Lincoln led the United States through its civil war and signed the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863. He was shot at Ford's Theatre in Washington on 14 April 1865 and died the following morning.

He lies beside his wife Mary and three of their four sons in a granite tomb at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where his body was brought after a funeral train carried it home across seven states.
