추모
Trumpeter and singer
Armstrong grew up desperately poor in New Orleans and learned the cornet in a home for delinquent boys. His recordings with the Hot Five and Hot Seven in the 1920s turned jazz from ensemble music into an art of the soloist, and his gravel voice made him a singer as well.
He lived his last twenty-eight years in an ordinary house in Queens, refusing to move somewhere grander. He is buried a few kilometres from it, with a trumpet carved on the stone.
